About SEMO Suicide Prevention

Established in 2022, Southeast Missouri Suicide Prevention, Inc. is a local non-profit organization that helps bring awareness to suicide prevention and raises funds to be utilized in our local community.

This organization was started by people in our own community that have been affected by suicide loss. Amber & Laura co-chaired suicide awareness & fundraising events in the area with a national organization for many years. They were frustrated that they weren’t seeing the results from their hard work on a local level. Therefore, with the help of a couple more passionate souls, they decided to create their own non-profit organization that benefits the local community only.

Our mission is to provide awareness, support & hope to those affected by suicide in Southeast Missouri.

1,125

2022 Donations

Our board chose two local organizations to donate a portion of our funds to in 2022. $5,000 was donated to the Community Counseling Center to help cover the cost of counseling services for clients that qualify for a Hardship Services Fund.

The other organization we chose is the Southeast Behavioral Hospital. We used a portion of funds to purchase items from their “wish list” for the adolescent inpatient services department. Items included long-sleeved shirts, journals, arts/crafts materials, sports balls, & board games.

About SEMO SP

What We Do

At SEMO Suicide Prevention, we know that suicide is a serious and preventable public health issue that affects individuals, families, and communities. That's why our organization is dedicated to providing education, resources, and support to those who may be struggling with thoughts of suicide, as well as to their loved ones.

Through our outreach efforts, we aim to raise awareness about the warning signs of suicide and the importance of seeking help when needed. We also provide training and support to individuals and organizations in our community, including schools, businesses, and healthcare providers, to help them recognize and respond to the signs of suicide.

Our work is vital to the community because suicide is a complex issue that can affect anyone, regardless of age, race, or gender. By working together, we can create a safer and more supportive environment for those who may be struggling, and ultimately save lives.

Together, we can help save lives.
